Billing for your hardware and paint shop in Telangana
Steel by the bundle, pipe by the length, paint by the litre, and the godown at the back counted too.

From the pipe cut to the farmer's length to the godown at the back
The borewell order, pipe by the metre with its elbows and valve
The farmer's borewell order is pipe by the metre, elbows by the piece and a valve by the piece, all on one bill, each in its own unit. The last piece of the roll stays on the count, so the next farmer is told how many metres are really left.
Steel by the lorry-load, checked against the slip at the market-yard godown
Steel comes to the godown at the market yard by the lorry-load. Note what came in against the lorry's slip, and the godown count rises by that amount. At the end of the week the godown count and the lorry slips either agree or tell you exactly where to look.
The sowing weeks, looked up afterwards
After the sowing weeks, look up each day and see which sprayers, hoes and fittings went and which stayed. Next year the order to the supplier is written from those days, and the sprayers are not half empty by the second morning.

Tools for a counter of steel, pipes, paint and tools
Godown stock
The yard godown's steel counted by weight, apart from the counter shelf, so the lorry owner knows what to bring.
Bills on your phone
A bill for the borewell set a farmer takes in one go, pump and pipe and fittings, with his village's name on it, sent to his WhatsApp.
Low stock warnings
A warning when the sprayer nozzles, washers and seals run low in the sowing weeks, when a farmer will not wait.
Daily reports
Each day's sales kept, so the dry months of house-building and the rainy months of painting can be read side by side.

Why the week before sowing, a borewell pipe and a brand of steel each need their own note
A sprayer's nozzle, washer and seal, asked for with the old one in hand
A farmer walks in holding the broken nozzle of his sprayer and asks if you have the same. The small parts sit in tins on the back shelf: nozzles, washers, seals, a rubber ring or two. Each sells for a few coins and each has its own make, so you turn out three tins to find one ring. The farmer waits with the crop standing in the field, and a part you could not find quickly is a sale he takes across the road.
A borewell pipe cut to the farmer's length
A farmer comes to fit a borewell and asks for pipe, a few elbows and a valve in one go. The pipe is sold by the length, the elbows by the piece, the valve singly. You add the sum in your head and say it aloud, and he wants to see it written before he pays.
A brand of steel, asked for by name
A mason who is building a slab asks for a branded TMT bar by name, and will not take another. You have bars of three makers on the rack, each with its own rate, and a lorry arriving from one of them tomorrow. A customer's trust in the brand is only as good as what you can show him of your count. Rather than turn him away you tell him which bar you have and which is coming, and you hope your memory of the count is right.
Building districts around a Telangana hardware shop
A hardware shop in Telangana sells to people who build, and the places that are growing are the places that need steel.
- Medchal Malkajgiri lists 7,397 industrial units, from micro to mega, and 32 industrial parks, all of which need pipes, paint and fittings.
- Begum Bazaar in Hyderabad's old city, near Naya Pul, sells household goods in retail and wholesale, a short ride from many hardware counters.
- Sangareddy has big factories at Sadashivpet, Zaheerabad and Patancheru, and its old town is known for its bazaars.
- Suryapet earns mainly from farming, and its market yard is one of the busiest and biggest in the state.
Questions Telangana hardware and paint shops ask
Two makers' bars came on one lorry. How do I note the load?
Note each maker's bars as its own line as they come down, so the two loads are told apart by the maker's name on the lorry's slip.
A lorry is half unloaded when the mason arrives for steel. What does the count show?
Tell him what is in the godown now, which is what has come off so far, and that the rest is still on the lorry. He decides to wait, or to take what is down.
A mason trusts one brand's bar and asks what you hold of it. How do I tell him?
A mason trusts one brand's bar for a slab. Open that brand's item for what the market-yard godown holds, and the other brand's beside it, and he chooses with both counts in front of him.
Steel dealers and the crop money behind a hardware counter
Kamdhenu, a branded TMT steel bar maker, widened its channel partner network in Telangana to 400 dealers in 2024 and aimed to add 50 more within a year. A shop that sells branded steel is one of several hundred in the state with the same bars and the same questions about rate.
Nizamabad market yard saw record turmeric prices of Rs 16,000 per quintal in April 2026, with about 30,000 quintals arriving from Nizamabad, Nirmal and Jagtial farmers. When the yard pays, the money moves to the village, and some of it reaches the hardware counter.
