Why the family from the colony comes once a month with cash and no bill, and a tax cut on Thursday reaches Monday's buyer

  • The family from the colony that comes to town once a month with cash in hand

A family from a colony or a village on the edge of the city comes in once a month with the pay in hand. In one visit they buy a phone for the son, a charger, a cover and a small television for the house, and pay in cash. Six months later the screen breaks and the son says it was bought here from you, with no bill in his pocket and no date in the owner's memory.

  • The tempo that leaves for a house with the bill still in the shop

A fridge or a washing machine is sold at the counter and goes out on a tempo with a helper who also fits it. The bill is written afterwards, once the rush is over, and the helper reaches the house with nothing in his hand. The family asks for the bill at the door, and the helper rings the shop to ask what was agreed.

  • The buyer of Monday, who reads on Thursday that the tax has changed

A family bought a washing machine on Monday, and on Thursday the news says the tax on such goods has been cut and prices are falling. The family comes back with the old bill and asks for the difference. The owner remembers the sale but not the exact rate on that day's tag, and the argument is about whose memory is better.

From a tempo leaving without its bill to new rates entered in one sitting

  1. One bill for the TV that goes on the tempo and the air fryer that goes in the bag

The family that comes in for the festival picks a television and an air fryer in the same visit. Make one bill with each on its own line, with the model name and the amount. The TV leaves on the tempo with the fitter, the air fryer goes home in a carry-bag, and the family has one message to show for both.

  2. The new rates entered in one sitting on the night the tax changes

When the tax on a fridge or an air conditioner is cut, change the rate of each model on your phone that evening. The first bill of the morning uses the new rate, and the paper tags on the floor can be rewritten at leisure after the shop is open. A customer who is looking at a tag and a phone gets the same number.

  3. Last week's fridge bill, with its rate and its date, when the news of the cut arrives

The bill the family got last week carries the day it was made and the rate it was made at. When the family returns after the news, you open that day's sales and read the same line together. The talk is about what to do with the difference, and not about what the price used to be.

Tools for a shop that sells a phone, a fridge and a heater in one year

  • Godown stock

The godown's air conditioners and heaters counted apart from the single demo piece on the shop floor, model by model.

  • Bills on your phone

A fridge's bill sent to the family and to the helper on the tempo before the goods leave the counter.

  • GST bills

A fridge or a washing machine billed with GST worked out on the day, so a later change in the rate leaves Monday's bill showing Monday's tax.

  • Low stock warnings

What a Chandigarh mobile and electronics shop owner asks before starting

A family bought a fridge on Monday and wants the difference after the tax was cut on Thursday. How do I show what it paid?

Put the two tags side by side, the old one and the new one on the same model. The difference between their rates is what the family is asking about, and it is worked out from two numbers you can both see.

Air conditioners sit in the godown from October to March. Can I keep the godown's count apart from the shop's?

Yes. In October the air conditioners go down to the godown and stay there until March, and the heaters come up to the front. On the first cold Saturday you can see from the counter how many heaters the godown still holds.

The fitter charges separately for putting up the air conditioner. Where does his charge go on the bill?

Make the fitting its own line, a service with its own rate. The machine's line then stays the machine alone, and the fitter's work is read apart from it.

A television goes out on the tempo and an air fryer goes home in a bag. Can one bill carry both?

Yes. Put both on the same bill as two lines. The family gets one message on WhatsApp, and the fitter can read the same line for the television.

A tax cut in a Sector 22 shop, and the festive wish lists of 2025

After the September 2025 GST cut, a Sector 22 electronics dealer said washing machines, fridges and ACs were about 10% cheaper and sales doubled or tripled in three days. For a shop holding old stock in the godown, those three days meant the old tag and the new tag on the same model in the same week.

Before Diwali 2025, smart TVs, air fryers and other gadgets topped festive wish lists in Chandigarh's tricity. A smart TV is hung on a wall by a fitter who comes the same evening, an air fryer goes home in a carry-bag, and both sales pass through the same phone.
