Billing for your medical store in Gujarat
Uttarayan's bandages, the heat's ORS and the Ayurvedic shelf, counted on one phone.

Bandages counted before Uttarayan, the heat read from last year, one bill for both shelves
Bandages, antiseptic and cotton set on the warning before 14 January
Set a low-stock mark for bandage rolls, antiseptic and cotton. When the first week of January brings the count near the mark, the app shows it, and you order while the wholesaler can still deliver before the festival. On the afternoon of the fourteenth the shelf has what the roofs need. The same mark can be kept for burn cream and plasters, which the kite weeks also use.
The heat of last April read again before this April
Open the days of last April's heat and see how many ORS packets and how much glucose went each day. Then set this year's marks from those numbers, and order for the first hot week instead of the third.
One bill for the cough syrup and the churna, each in its own way of counting
Make the churna an item sold by the hundred grams and the syrup an item sold by the bottle. One bill holds both, each line counted its own way, and the family's WhatsApp gets the whole bill. At closing the two shelves show their own counts.

Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Vadodara: the Gujarat towns whose families a chemist serves
Three Gujarat towns and cities, and what each is known for.
- Rajkot's Soni goldsmiths and silver craftsmen make jewellery, and the city is also known for textile printing and for metal and wood carving.
- Bhavnagar is an important trade city, 50 km from Alang, the world's largest ship-breaking yard, and is famous for its ganthiya snack.
- Vadodara has over 35% of India's power transmission and distribution equipment makers, with an estimated 800 supporting ancillary units.

What a Gujarat medical counter keeps on its phone, from Uttarayan afternoon to the heat weeks
Low stock warnings
A warning for bandage rolls, antiseptic and cotton in the first week of January, before the kite flyers reach the counter.
Bills on your phone
A bill made in seconds for a bandage roll, an antiseptic bottle and a cotton packet on Uttarayan afternoon, sent on WhatsApp to the parent who is already walking home.
Daily reports
The hottest week of last April kept day by day, so the order for ORS and glucose this year follows what really went.
Orders to suppliers
A page for the Ayurvedic supplier and one for the allopathic wholesaler, with what each brought on the day it arrived, so the two shelves are ordered apart.
Kite-string cuts on 14 January, the heat weeks and an Ayurvedic shelf beside the allopathic one: three counts a Gujarat chemist loses
Uttarayan afternoon, when the counter is full of kite-string cuts
By the afternoon of 14 January people come in from the roofs with cuts on fingers and necks from the kite string, and children with scraped knees from running after the fallen kites. Antiseptic, cotton, bandage rolls and burn cream go in a few hours. The queue is at the door, the slips are loose, and by evening nobody can say how much of each was sold.
The heat weeks, when ORS and glucose go in days
From April the heat settles over the plains. Families ask for ORS, glucose powder, electrolyte drinks and creams for heat rash, and the stock that lasted a month in winter is gone in a week. Each customer takes two or three packets, and the packets are counted only when the shelf looks bare.
Churna weighed from an open jar while the syrup waits in its bottle
A mother asks for a hundred grams of churna for the stomach, a kadha mix for the cold and a bottle of honey. The first is weighed from a jar, the second counted as a pack and the third as a bottle. At the end of the week the strips are counted and the jars are not, so the shop cannot say whether the Ayurvedic shelf or the other one took more.
Questions Gujarat chemists ask about Uttarayan, ORS in the heat and Ayurvedic churna
A father hurries in with a child's cut finger, asks for a plaster, and a burn cream as he pays. Can I add it at the last moment?
Yes. The plaster, the antiseptic and the burn cream are three items, so the cream is one more line added before the bill is finished. The bill goes to the parent's phone as he walks out with the child.
At the week's end how do I tell whether the churna jars or the cough syrups took more?
Open the seven days one by one and read the churna lines and the syrup lines of each, then add up each shelf's week. The churna is counted in grams and the syrup in bottles, so compare the two shelves by the money each line brought and not by the units.
In the heat weeks a stomach upset sends many people in for a tablet or two. How do I keep up?
Pick the tablet on the phone, take the money and move on; each sale is a few taps. At night the day's report tells how many tablets went, so you know which day of the heat the stomach medicine needs a fresh order.
Ahmedabad's fever season in 2026: what a chemist counted
Ahmedabad recorded 640 dengue cases between 1 and 27 September 2026, over half the year's 1,228 so far, after a long lull in monsoon rain. For a chemist, most of the year's dengue cases came inside one month. The same weeks showed how quickly a counter's stock of fever strips, ORS and glucose is drawn down once the rain has stopped.
From 1 January to 27 September 2026 Ahmedabad also reported 4,114 gastroenteritis cases, 1,655 typhoid cases and 600 jaundice cases. A chemist's shelf of ORS and fever strips has to be read by the week, not by the year.
