Billing for your medical store in Madhya Pradesh
The strip, the half strip and the fever weeks, all counted on one phone.

The warning before the fever strips finish, the son's payment on the father's page and two strengths counted apart
The fever week read beside the supplier's van days
After a bad dengue year, the day-by-day count of fever tablets and rehydration packets sold can be set beside the days the supplier's van comes. A shelf that runs low the day after the van has gone is seen at once, and the order goes in time for the next one.
The strips are packed ready, and the father's payment is already on his page
The father is old and walks slowly. His son's UPI payment from the city is on his page, and the month's strips are already counted. When the father reaches the counter, the bill is made, the payment is there, and he does not wait while you look for it.
The bill that answers the customer who compares with the Jan Aushadhi Kendra
A customer who has been to the nearby Jan Aushadhi Kendra asks why the strip here costs more. Show the bill: each strip with its own rate and the day it was sold, so the talk is about numbers on a page. Two strengths of one medicine are two items, so the strength she is comparing is the one on the bill.

Bills on your phone
A bill for five tablets cut from a strip of ten, with the other five still counted on the shelf.
GST bills
GST worked out strip by strip as the bill is made, and none shown on the medicines that carry none.
Orders to suppliers
The van's drop is noted against the order the same hour it arrives, so a short delivery is seen at the door and not at the end of the week.
Fever weeks that empty three shelves, the son who pays from the city and two strengths on one shelf
The fever weeks that empty three shelves
As the 2024 monsoon ended, Indore's dengue cases passed 400 and chikungunya hit 20 in 15 days, the highest since 2017, with viral fever widespread. In weeks like that a medical counter sells the same few things all day: fever strips, rehydration packets, and what a doctor writes beside them. Three shelves go bare at once, and the supplier's van has already left for the day, so the order that should have gone on the third morning goes on the sixth.
The son pays from the city and the father collects in the village
A son working in a city pays by UPI for his father's month of strips. The father walks down from the village a day or two later, and the strips must be ready, counted out and set aside. In the notebook the son's payment and the father's collection are two lines in different hands, and nobody can find which strips were paid for.
Two strengths of one medicine on the same shelf
A customer comes back with last month's strip from the Jan Aushadhi Kendra and asks for the same strength here. The same medicine comes in two strengths, the strips look alike, and the helper must match them by the small print. If he picks the wrong one, the count of each is out by evening.

Jabalpur's railway families and the visitors to Bhedaghat
A medical store in a Madhya Pradesh town serves the families around its district's main employers and visitors.
- Jabalpur is home to the Gun Carriage Factory and the headquarters of West Central Railway; Bhedaghat nearby is known for its marble rocks. The families of the factory and the railway buy through the month, and the visitors who come to see the marble rocks buy small things on the way.
- Indore is called a commercial capital, and soyabean is a kharif crop grown in most of the district. A commercial capital has traders who come in for strips and syrups on the way to the market.
- Sagar is a major road and agricultural trade centre, with oil and flour milling, ghee processing, handloom cotton weaving and bidi making. A road and trade centre brings customers from the villages, who come for a month's medicines at a time.
What medical store owners in Madhya Pradesh ask
In the monsoon fever weeks customers ask for five tablets, not the strip. How do the five show in the day's total?
A short fever course of tablets shows in the day's total as tablets, and the strips stay as strips, so the evening strip count is not touched.
A customer shows the rate at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra and asks what she pays here. What does my bill show her?
The bill reads the strip she chose, with its name and its own rate on one line. She can hold that line beside the Kendra's slip and see the two rates for herself; the bill states, it does not argue.
A customer asks whether the strip she bought last week was this strength. Can I show her?
Yes. The sale is a bill, and each line names the item with its strength. Find her bill and read the line to her.
Indore's 100 Jan Aushadhi Kendras and Bhopal's 39
On 31 December 2025 Indore had 100 Jan Aushadhi Kendras, the most of any Madhya Pradesh district, and Bhopal had 39, the Health Ministry's district list shows. In those two cities a customer may carry a lower rate in her head from the Kendra down the road and ask a private chemist why his is higher. A bill that shows the rate of each strip and the day lets him answer her with the paper in his hand.
On 20 May 2026 about 41,000 medical stores across Madhya Pradesh stayed shut, over 3,000 of them in Bhopal. For a Bhopal chemist the day showed how many customers had nowhere to go, and an online shop of his own, with its orders arriving on the phone he bills from, stays open on a day like that.
